History of Resurrection A.D. Records
In August of 1995, at the age of 27, AJ Falvo founded Resurrection A.D. Records from a basement in Red Bank, New Jersey. Rooted in the New Jersey hardcore scene he grew up in, the label wasted no time making its mark — releasing the AGE-9 Gross Times CD along with seven-inch vinyl records for legendary hardcore band Hogan’s Heroes and locally-based NJ Spirit, whose members would go on to play in notable hardcore acts Floorpunch and Endeavor.
From those humble beginnings, Resurrection A.D. Records has grown into an independent label that operates with major label standards and expectations — without ever losing its underground soul. The label’s catalog spans a powerful cross-section of genres including old school hardcore, metal, pop punk, indie rock, and rap/metal fusion, reflecting a commitment to musical diversity without compromising quality. A concerted focus on artist development has consistently allowed bands and individual musicians the opportunity to step up to bigger and better things.
The results speak for themselves. E-Town Concrete, the rap/metal powerhouse that released their first two records — Time 2 Shine and F$ck The World — on Resurrection A.D., went on to sign with Razor & Tie Records, distributed by BMG, and landed music videos on MTV. San Diego’s Built To Last appeared on the label twice with …And Knowing Is Half The Battle and their self-titled CD, with guitarist Dave Kennedy going on to join Box Car Racer — featuring members of Blink-182 — and Over My Dead Body.
That commitment to artist development has never wavered. Knuckle Sandwich, with their debut CD Nice, earned praise from industry heavyweights CMJ and Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll while catching the attention of major label A&R. Kicked In The Head made their own waves with Salita, their second release on Resurrection A.D. — appearing on select Northeastern dates of the Vans Warped Tour, landing a spot on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour CD compilation on Side One Dummy Records, and having their song “All The Way” featured in trailers for the number one box office hit Spy Kids 3-D from Miramax Films.
From day one, Resurrection A.D. Records has held itself to a higher standard — and that drive has never let up. Quality over quantity isn’t just a philosophy here, it’s the foundation everything is built on. It’s what pushes the label to exceed industry expectations and deliver music and production that stands the test of time. Like the New Jersey hardcore scene that gave it life, there is something deeper at work here than meets the eye. This is not just a label. This is the music, an attitude, and a way of life. We do it our way.
